  • 1920s BRIDGE BUILDING -- Florida Times-Union article called "Bridges Don't Burn, City Learned," by Bill Foley.  Tells about the burning of a St. Johns River ferryboat in 1929.  The fire gave added momentum to the movement to build a another bridge across the St. Johns in Jacksonville.  

  • 1940s PONTOON BRIDGES -- Florida Times-Union article entitled "Millennium Moment: April 14, 1949," by Bill Foley.  Tells about a scheme in 1949 to use war-surplus pontoon bridges across the St. Johns in Jacksonville.
