  MYSTERY IMAGE: A KISS

(Source of image: Florida State Archives)

What a cute picture!  A locomotive engineer seems to be getting a kiss from the girl at the time of his arrival or departure.

Who are these two people, and just what was the occasion?  The following may be important clues:

1 -- The Florida Archives states that the man was indeed a locomotive engineer.

2 -- The Archives gives the names of two places for this photo: Jacksonville is indicated for the man & woman, yet Wildwood, a Central Florida railroad town, is also acknowledged.

3 -- The image was taken by Jacksonville photographer Jack Spottswood and dates from November 17, 1945.

4 -- The railroad company is Seaboard Air Line.  The locomotive is engine number 3001, class 0-6-6-0, with the builder having been the Electro-Motive Corporation.
