  MYSTERY IMAGE: HOUSE MOVING

(Source of picture: Florida State Archives)

This house is getting a lift, apparently to a new location.  Can someone identify the dwelling?  This 1948 photo is from Garden City, a Northside community between the Trout River and Jacksonville International Airport.  There aren't too many other clues to the mystery, except for the somewhat distinctive gable atop the house.  The picture was taken by Jax photographer Jack Spottswood.

MYSTERY SOLVED??? -- This anonymous house may've been located near the intersection of Caper and Lem Turner Road.  It might have belonged to the Dowling family, according to Morgan Crissman, a longtime resident of the area.  The possible address, 10572 Lem Turner, is now occupied by a Sherwood Williams paint store. (Special thanks goes to Barbara "Bobbie" Crissman for obtaining this information from her father.)
