What a nice looking memento from one's salad years! According to Nancy Faircloth-Whittemore, this is a "photo of myself at the tender age of 17, with a young escort, when I was crowned Miss Andrew Jackson High School in 1970. The young man was Richard D. Broward of the pioneer Broward family."
Located on North Main Street in North Jacksonville, Andrew Jackson High opened in 1927. This was at the same time as the birth of its Riverside twin, Robert E. Lee High. Both institutions show a strong Mediterranean Revival influence in their architecture.
