(Source of picture: From the wonderful website, Florida Frontier Gazette. Used with permission.) COMPASSION -- Some misguided people still think of early Indians as having been savages. A great deal of evidence shows that this wasn't the case. An example comes from Windover Pond, an archaeological site near Kennedy Space Center in Florida. As shown by his 7,500-year-old skeleton, a young teenage boy once suffered from a bone disease. For years, it had left him badly crippled & unable to walk, yet his companions did not abandon him to die. Evidence indicates that they carried him along in their group, tending to his needs. This is a testament to selflessness. |
