Probably dating the Sixties, this photo shows a marked improvement in the Northbank from the raggedy waterfront of previous decades.  The arrows indicate the following:

 

 

 

 

Green arrow -- CSX Building

 

 

 

 

Blue arrow -- Civic Auditorium (Times-Union Performing Arts Center), dedicated in 1962.

 

 

 

 

Yellow arrow -- The nation's largest Sears Department Store, which used to operate downtown at the site of today's Omni Hotel.

 

 

 

 

Red arrow -- Future spot of the Jacksonville Landing marketplace
