The sign for Berney's Restaurant can be clearly seen in this 1944 photo of Adams Street, which was apparently made of brick.  The dome windows belong to the old Roosevelt Hotel.  The marchers were participating in an Armistice Day parade during the time of World War II.  The holiday celebrated the end of World War I.
