This 1940 photo depicts the Elks Club Building, the home for Berney's Restaurant.  Laura Street runs in front, while Adams Street is to the side.  Near the lower right-hand corner is a Berney's Restaurant sign, which hung over the eatery's front door on Adams.  The Roosevelt Hotel rises in back.  The Elks Club Building still stands and has been renovated.  The Roosevelt Hotel has also survived and is being renovated into apartments.
