Here's
a glimpse of East Bay Street probably in the 1940s. The bricks
down the middle may've run along trolley tracks at one time. (Jax
streetcars rolled into history in 1936.)
The trolley companies had often used bricks
between and around their rails that were in streets. When the
track had to be repaired, the bricks could be removed and later
replaced. This info came from
longtime Jax resident Jack McGiffin in his
book It Ain't Like It Was in the Good Old Days... No, and It Never
Was.
