Here's a glimpse of East Bay Street probably in the 1940s.  The bricks down the middle may've run along trolley tracks at one time.  (Jax streetcars rolled into history in 1936.)  The trolley companies had often used bricks between and around their rails that were in streets.  When the track had to be repaired, the bricks could be removed and later replaced.  This info came from longtime Jax resident Jack McGiffin in his book It Ain't Like It Was in the Good Old Days... No, and It Never Was.
