This Jax photo was snapped on July 30, 1948 (which happened to be the first birthday of "The Terminator," Arnold Schwarzenegger).  Pictured are the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad docks that lay west of the Main Street Bridge and east of the Acosta span.  What's in this area now?  The green arrow highlights the approximate location of today's CSX Building, while the blue indicates the future spot of the Times-Union Performing Arts Center.  The red arrow touches on the Hotel Mayflower (Hotel Mason), the dark building with the white top floor.  Built in the 1912, it was demolished in 1978.  Standing at the site now is the glass-encased, 33-story BellSouth Building.
