Trick photography? Actually, the flag was created with lighting in the windows. Here's the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Building (CSX Building) during a Fourth of July celebration in the Sixties. Still in use, the 17-story structure fronts the St. Johns River near the north end of Jacksonville's sleek Acosta Bridge. The patriotic window display continued until recent times.
When the structure opened in 1960, the Atlantic Coast Line Building replaced unsightly railroad tracks and dilapidated wharves & warehouses. Travelers over Jacksonville's bridges used to get an eyeful of the ugly eyesore that was yesteryear's waterfront. New buildings and parking lots helped to improve the view, however. -- Click here for a daytime shot of the scene above.
