MOVIEMAKER MERRIMENT

It looks as if gift-wrapping paper litters the floor of the studio.  This Jax photo was taken in about 1916, when the city served a mecca for moviemakers. The picture depicts the Christmas party for the Kalem film company.

Perhaps Kalem was churning out a western, for two of the men are dressed as Native Americans.  Notice too how some of the women sport long tresses.  Around the year 1910, models & actresses began to let their hair down in photos.  During the 1920s, this trend seemed to have ended when bobbed hairstyles became fashionable among flappers.
