(Source of picture: Florida State Archives) This trolley car ran for a company with peculiar name, the "Phoenix Park Line." The car traveled to the suburb of Phoenix Park, situated on the Northside along the Trout River. According to the neighborhood's developers, it rose like a phoenix from the ashes of the Great Fire of 1901. (Actually, the fire really didn't reach that far north). This trolley car ran a route via Main Street, from Bay and Main to Walnut, then to Phoenix, to Evergreen, and finally to the Trout River. Although the street railroad is long gone, the Phoenix Park neighborhood still exists, of course. |
