Local car buyers could've considered these models in 1941, on the eve of America's entry into World War II.  This Spanish-style building housed the Riverside Chevrolet Company, located on Riverside Avenue in the neighborhood of Riverside.  Behind the dealership on stood the long-gone Seashole Funeral Home.  A YMCA is now being built on the site of the old car lot.

After WWII ended in 1945, buyers returning to the Riverside dealership would've experienced deja vu.  The conflict had put a stop to the design & production of civilian automobiles.  Following the war, the same models, with only minor face lifts, were often produced.  But this didn't matter a great deal initially.  The war had ended the Great Depression, had put money in the pockets of soldiers & war production workers, and had lessened the manufacture of consumer goods while war supplies were made.  Frustrated buyers were ready to purchase almost anything!
