THE POWER SUPPLY -- This building served as the source of power for all of Jacksonville's trolleys. It stood where the Florida Times-Union headquarters is today on Riverside Avenue, according to longtime Jax resident Jack McGiffin in his book It Ain't Like It Was in the Good Old Days... No, and It Never Was. Nearby on the St. Johns River was dock for unloading the power plant's coal. The image above was captured on December 12, 1936, the final day of streetcar service in the city.
