It would be over 55 years old, but who knows?  You may have one of these very fruitcakes in your refrigerator!  You've heard the old story about fruitcakes being passed back & forth, Christmas after Christmas.  Perhaps some of these treats are still being "re-gifted."

The photo comes from Jacksonville in 1947, a couple of years after World War II.  Do you recognize what store this was?  It can't be a supermarket, for a suit department appears in the background.  The Florida State Archives gives no clues, and the men's names prove also prove a mystery.

Note the sign that proclaims "Free Balloon! With Each Purchase of Baby Ruth Cookies."  According to one website, the recipe for the cookies could be found on the back of Baby Ruth bars during the Forties.
