This photo was bought for 60 cents at a River City garage sale by Joyce Brown, the President of the South Jacksonville African American Historical & Genealogical Society.  Can you help identify this sandy highway or byway?  Was it located in Duval County?  "On the Road to St. Augustine" is all that a note on the back says.  No date is given.

One local resident has examined the original picture from which this website image was copied.  He believes that a valuable clue can be gleaned from the angle at which some of the tree branches are pointing.  In his opinion, prevailing coastal winds may account for their appearance.  Therefore, the road probably ran near a beach.  What do you think?
