FROM YESTERYEAR
(Source of image: Florida Collection, Main Public Library, Jacksonville) These are the grandparents and great grandparents of people today with First Coast forebears. Proudly displaying their guitars and mandolins in about 1914, these musicians were graduates of the long-gone Duval High School. Its old building dates from 1908 and still stands on North Ocean Street. The classrooms have been converted into apartments for the elderly. After having spent their salad days at the school, some of the former students are now enjoying their golden years there.
